Justin Cleland
Managing & Technical Director
I found the love for repairing endoscopes in the year 2000 when I went over to study and to do a 7 year apprenticeship with Endotech LLP in the UK. After seeing a need for a quality Endoscope repair company in South Africa where we opened Phoenix Surgical SA Pty Ltd’s doors in July 2006 and continued to offer quality repairs which fall in line with our customers budgets.
“Repairing Endoscopes is not just a job for me, it is my passion and I maintain that you will never work a day in your life if you love what you do.”
Cindy Cleland

After I’ve have finished my 3 year Somatology national and international Diploma at ISA Carstens in Stellenbosch I entered the Aesthetic industry. I worked in the Aesthetic industry alongside well know doctors in the field for 5 years. I then decided in 2018 to join this dynamic company , Phoenix Surgical SA Pty Ltd. I strive to deliver the ultimate customer and customer after sales service.
Alan Cummings
Shareholder
I am a metallurgist by education, I moved into the surgical instrument field with Richard Wolf UK. There I ran the endoscope service lab for 8 years before starting my own company specializing in all aspects of rigid endoscopes. Over the last two and a half decades I have instigated and set up seven endoscope repair labs on three different continents. In 2016 I sold my interest in most of the companies I had an interest in, to a major global medical corporation, but wished to keep my involvement in Phoenix Surgical SA Pty Ltd for personal and professional reasons. I am an investor in the UK government’s Enterprise Initiative Scheme and act as a business ‘angel’ to a number of small companies.
I am still deeply involved in the endoscope field and am still very excited about what our team at Phoenix Surgical SA Pty Ltd are doing and what we offer the end user in South Africa.
